Meet the Master Craftsman

Harper, a leather artisan from Sarasota, Florida, draws deep inspiration from his late grandfather, who handcrafted bags, holsters, and cases in his workshop in the mountains of New Mexico. Those early moments of watching his craft left a lasting impression, though their significance only became clear years later. When Harper worked with leather for the first time, it felt like reconnecting with that legacy, sparking a profound appreciation for the artistry passed down through generations.

Harper's designs reflect a commitment to balance—blending simplicity, functionality, and beauty. Harper’s journey into leatherworking began as a search for high-quality, practical items that seamlessly fit into daily life. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted with a focus on purpose and elegance, ensuring it enhances both form and function.

Collaborating with Bluebonnet aligns perfectly with Harper’s values, combining sustainable craftsmanship with timeless, nature-inspired designs. Through his work, Harper honors his grandfather’s legacy, creating pieces that bring meaning and joy to the everyday.

USA Craftsmanship

This Bluebonnet piece is crafted from American Horween English Tan Dublin leather, a full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather that is tanned using Horween’s 100 year old “Cordovan Veg Tan” liquor formula.

Essex leather sides are infused with a wax blend and ironed under a hot roller to create Dublin – a full bodied leather with a rugged appeal. The wax finish creates a beautiful pull-up effect on the leather when bent or handled.

The Companion Horween Leather Apple Watch Band – English Tan (42–49mm Ultra)

I buy new Bluebonnet watch strap every year and this one is definitely the best I have had. I like softer leather and blue stitching is the one to show. The only personal drawback is brass hardware that doesn’t match titanium watch case but I’m not changing this strap over that.

The Companion Horween Leather Apple Watch Band – English Tan (42–49mm Ultra)

Bluebonnet Apple watchbands are beautiful, durable and produced with top quality materials and craftsmanship. While they are indeed expensive, they look EVEN MORE expensive and are worth every penny. I bought them in every color and as seriously as I consider what I should wear every morning, that's how seriously I choose the day's watchband. Needless to say, I've gotten many compliments on my bands. Just buy one. You'll get hooked too.

FAQ's

What makes Horween leather worth the premium?

Horween runs slow, traditional processes that most tanneries abandoned for speed. Dublin in particular is vegetable tanned, wax infused and hand-finished, which produces a hide that ages with character instead of simply wearing out.

Does this Horween leather Apple Watch band fit the Ultra 4 and Ultra 3?

Yes. The band is sized for the 49mm Ultra case and fits Ultra 4, Ultra 3, Ultra 2 and the original Ultra.

Where is the band made?

The leather is tanned in Chicago by Horween. The band itself is hand-cut, edge-burnished and finished in Texas.

Will the brass buckle tarnish?

Solid brass develops a warm patina with handling. A dry cloth restores most of the shine, and many owners prefer to leave it alone so the hardware ages alongside the leather.

How is the Horween leather Apple Watch band cared for?

Dublin arrives already carrying wax, so it needs very little. Wipe it dry after rain and let it air away from heat. Scuffs lift back into the surface with a thumb, which is the pull-up effect doing its job. Over months the tone deepens unevenly, darker where the band flexes and lighter where it does not. That is the leather working as intended, not a defect.
