About this leather:

Epsom is a premium French calfskin prized for its structured shape, uniform embossed grain, and ability to retain its rich color and pristine appearance over time. Its resilient matte surface resists scratches, scuffs, and moisture better than many natural-grain leathers while requiring minimal maintenance. Elegant without being fragile, Epsom represents modern French luxury—refined enough for special occasions and durable enough for everyday wear.

Meet the Master Craftsman

Harper, a leather artisan from Sarasota, Florida, draws deep inspiration from his late grandfather, who handcrafted bags, holsters, and cases in his workshop in the mountains of New Mexico. Those early moments of watching his craft left a lasting impression, though their significance only became clear years later. When Harper worked with leather for the first time, it felt like reconnecting with that legacy, sparking a profound appreciation for the artistry passed down through generations.

Harper's designs reflect a commitment to balance—blending simplicity, functionality, and beauty. Harper’s journey into leatherworking began as a search for high-quality, practical items that seamlessly fit into daily life. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted with a focus on purpose and elegance, ensuring it enhances both form and function.

Collaborating with Bluebonnet aligns perfectly with Harper’s values, combining sustainable craftsmanship with timeless, nature-inspired designs. Through his work, Harper honors his grandfather’s legacy, creating pieces that bring meaning and joy to the everyday.

USA Craftsmanship

This Bluebonnet piece is crafted from American Horween English Tan Dublin leather, a full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather that is tanned using Horween’s 100 year old “Cordovan Veg Tan” liquor formula.

Essex leather sides are infused with a wax blend and ironed under a hot roller to create Dublin – a full bodied leather with a rugged appeal. The wax finish creates a beautiful pull-up effect on the leather when bent or handled.

Horween Leather

Founded in 1905 in Chicago, Horween Leather Company has been producing some of the finest leathers in the world, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques. Their leathers are carefully tanned using time-honored processes, such as the famous Chromexcel and vegetable-tanning methods, resulting in unparalleled durability, softness, and a rich patina that develops with age.

The result is leather with exceptional durability, softness, and a rich patina that tells a story over time. This dedication to quality and authenticity highlights the enduring spirit of American manufacturing.

What Owners Say

Introducing

English Tan Dublin from a Tannery Running Since 1905

Horween has been tanning in Chicago since 1905 and Dublin is one of its signature hides. Essex sides are infused with a wax blend, then ironed under a hot roller to produce a full-bodied leather with a rugged surface. The wax is what creates the pull-up effect when the leather is bent.

Cut and Finished by One Craftsman

Harper, a leather artisan based in Sarasota, hand-cuts, burnishes and finishes every band. He learned the trade watching his grandfather build bags, holsters and cases in a New Mexico workshop, and his work carries that lineage. The band is not assembled on a line.

Solid Brass Rather Than Plated Hardware

Published in 1943, The Little Prince is among the best-selling books in literary history. The star engraved on the buckle references the line about stars guiding those who travel. The drawing engraved on the band commemorates more than eighty years in print.

Ready for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4

This Horween leather Apple Watch band is made in a single size, covering the 42mm, 44mm, 45mm, 46mm and 49mm Ultra cases with no small variant. That focus lets the strap be cut heavier than a band designed to span every case width, which is why The Companion is compatible with Apple's newest Series 12 and Ultra 4, and with every large-case Apple Watch model that came before them.
